Thoughts About The 2020 Election: Reflections Of 2008 and 2012

This Pigeon Is Reminiscing 2008 and 2012.

Bernie Sanders is still surviving. It's shocking that Bernie is doing as well is he is considering the whole system is completely rigged against him. Both CNN and MSNBC have been crap-talking him 24-7 since the 2020 Campaign. The DNC continues their nonstop smear campaign against him as well.

Biden is ahead of Sanders when it comes to delegates. However, he doesn't have a majority, and won't be able to secure one if he doesn't win over the support of Millennials. This is easier said then done when the vast majority of Millennials see Biden as the corporate shill that he is and the political equivalent of the Anti-Christ.

Biden can't go around calling Millennials worthless pieces of crap because they are suffering from economic policies that he had "hands" in, and then go back around and declare that he's the best thing to ever happen to them. Things don't work like that. Millennials are very intelligent. They done far more research into Biden's voting record than anything that CNN and MSNBC were ever going to do. Ironic considering that as news network, their job is to well....research in the form of investigative journalism and report on their findings. Millennials are doing the job that bloated TV news outlets with obvious bias's are failing to do, often on purpose.

To say that Biden has "big hands" is an understatement. However, I didn't focus on his "hands-on approach" with women because this is the crap that everybody is going to talk about. Things like his inconsistent voting record, his false advertising, his Washington-Insider connections, decades of political baggage, and his ties to big money; are the topics that most ignore. Biden is a symbol of why many are so fed up about the current status quo of Washington politics. Sanders is the voice of those tired of big money and corporate manipulation.

The hostility and boiling resent against the current, money-dominated; status quo made Bernie Sanders the standout figure that he is. For the longest time, most were content with the status quo as long as things were doing very good. Both the establishments of the DNC and the GOP were hit by a Molotov cocktail in the form of the 2008 Financial Meltdown and its aftermath. Things would never be the same again. Even in 2019, we are still living in a world that was shaped by its effects.

Not surprisingly, after a meltdown of that caliber, did anyone actually expect John McCain to win in 2008? The DNC could have nominated a vacuum cleaner and it still would have beaten him in that election. Victory would have been guaranteed considering how millions were burned by the unrestricted economic policies that resulted in the worst economic meltdown since 1929.

Many were stoked when Obama became President. Would he be like Bush Senior and have those responsible for economic mismanagement jailed (in reference to the failure of several "Savings and Loans" companies in the early 90's). Obama did come in with good intentions. He actually did want to punish those responsible for that meltdown with jail time. Many of times, good intentions do result with actual good taking place in the mold of reforms.

Unfortunately, we also know that the road to hell is paved with big money that corrupts those good intentions.  However, after being convinced that swift "Old Testament" justice wasn't the best course of action, Obama refrained. The executives that were behind the decisions that resulted in the 2008 Meltdown walked away from the disasters that they've made with golden parachutes. The typical American lost.

Granted, there was a lot stacked against him. Obama inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression. Many of the economic policies that he pushed were instrumental in the recovery of the nation. Extreme times call for extreme measures. The banks were partially nationalized, along with the automotive companies. This was essential to prevent a total economic collapse. I know that many naysayers would condemn such actions. However, such a move wouldn't have been required if such institutions didn't fail in the first place. Failure that was a result of a lack of regulation and foresight. The Government bailed out the major financial institutions. The partial nationalization of the auto industry didn't last that long either, much to the disappointment to conspiracy theorist who were anticipating the move total nationalization of the industry to provide that "I told you so moment". Alex Jones was very active with his tomfoolery during this time. Given what Obama inherited, he did very well by the end of his second term.

During the Great Depression, FDR pushed several government programs. Many Republicans at that time rallied against FDR, his aid programs, and Government management in economic affairs. Regulations were introduced to deal with stock market speculation as a response to the 1929 Meltdown. Many resented Government help. At this point, it should be noted that Government handouts wouldn't have been necessary if their wasn't a economic collapse. A economic collapse wouldn't have even occurred if their was regulation in the stock market in the first place.

While recessions are part of the normal economic cycle, depressions are not. The 1929 Meltdown was triggered by unregulated market speculation that went out of control. The 2008 Meltdown was triggered by unregulated speculation in the housing market. The executives that were suppose to keep things in check saw dollar signs in their eyes and did nothing to keep the system in check. Financial checks-and-balances failed.

While Obama's economic policies would bare fruit that would have been of great benefit for his predecessor, he made a very massive mistake. He didn't address the core issue that resulted in the 2008 Meltdown, housing speculation. There would be no preemptive reforms. The banks did pay their very massive fines. However, for those companies with the big bucks, such fines were essentially inconvenient chump change. Poor Timmy couldn't get his platinum-encrusted teeth caps this quarter!  While some people on the bottom of the totem pole were given prison sentences, the executives walked away with impunity. There would be no justice for them. This wouldn't be like the Savings and Loans collapse of the early 90's or the meltdown of Enron and MCI Worldcom where those at the top went to jail.

A financial meltdown resulting from  housing speculation could happen again. The reformer turned into a insider. This reconfirmed the thoughts of millions that Obama was a representative of the current status quo, and those who were fed up became very disgruntled. While there is a lot of Obama love now, his embrace of the status quo and not holding those responsible for the 2008 Financial Meltdown was a major contributing factor to the rise of a populist movement that would sow the seeds for Trump's victory and Bernie's rise.

2012
By 2012, Obama had gone full corporate sell-out. Mitt Romney was one as well. In fact, Romney authored the medical bill that became known as Obamacare. This bill was of great benefit to the insurance companies as their was now a flood of new customers that they didn't have before. Again, this was at the loss of the American citizen.

Romney and Obama were different sides of the same coin. It should be noted that when it comes to economic policies, Republicans and Democrats are largely one and the same. The only difference is that one sides feels that slightly more regulation is needed, but other than that, they're largely the same. Politicians on both sides have their Wall-Streets connections and ties to the financial institutions, along with their billion-dollar donors. What's the difference?

The "differences" between the political parties (before 2012, 2012 itself, and today) tends to be meaningless banter to push party propaganda. The Democrat Party claims to champion the poor, but yet, are a slave to corporate interest that look down on everybody who's not themselves. The Democrat Party could be so much better if they pushed economic policies that help everybody in general, which would help minorities in much greater detail instead of catering to a specific demographic which creates unintended alienation in the process. The economic programs where everybody wins and equality is ensured.

The Republicans claim to support small government, but promoted a massive surveillance state. Sure, that's small government at work! While the Republican Party proclaim themselves as the party that rejects handouts, they constantly gives handouts in the form of constant tax-breaks and market privileges to those that don't need it (massive corporations). While the Democrats chastise them for their handouts, their making money from them as well. Either way, we loose. Both the Republican and Democrat Party claim to represent the common man, but yet served there corporate masters.

The Republican Party claims to be pro-Life, but they supported drone policies that have resulted in women and children in many parts of the world to be blasted apart in horrible ways. How is that Pro-Life? While I admire John McCain, he was a massive supporter of the drone program as well, which resulted in innocent children being killed in Yemen. This is a very dark spot on his legacy. There's blood on the hands on Democrats as well. Obama expanded the drone program when he became President and sold drones and various other weapons to Saudi Arabia for a long time. Saudi Arabia used drones and jets that we sold them to bomb civilian, non-military infrastructure in Yemen. Trump continues to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia now.

What about the people gunned down in this country? How is that Pro-Life? Did people forget that life continues beyond that womb, or did they think that once born, that baby was on it's own now. Would helping that child be considered "Socialism"? No action had occurred because millions have been told that gun regulation is equal to being anti-gun, anti-American, anti-Second Amendment, and pro-terrorist, despite the fact that guns owners could embrace such common-sense regulation without being none of those things.

Despite the fact that their has never been a time in history (including now) that the Second Amendment was never under threat or their was a possibility of a person's gun's being taken away, many have brought into the hype and conspiracy theories. Boogeymen have been created as a distraction, while a safety issue had been turned into another us-vs.-them, Liberal vs. Conservative issue, despite the gun issue not being none of those things.

Fear is used as a tool for social control, with those using it to tell people that they are one vote away from a concentration camp. While many have brought into these cartoon villains, the real villains (who don't care about people's gun rights) are running away with their money. Conspiracy theories not rooted in reality become the gospel truth.

One is entitled to their opinions. However, most aren't forming their opinions on facts, but party rhetoric. The Republican stance on "Pro-Life" is one of the most contradictory stances. One isn't "Pro-Life" if their against abortion, but yet, have no issues with the concept of carpet bombing and have apathy to innocent people gunned down in this country or innocent women and children killed in drone attacks in various parts of the world.

Both the Republican and Democrat Parties were (and still are) lying to me and everybody else on a regular basis. This is why making the statement that both political parties have their equal share of corruption is probably the most mundane statements that one could make. Both parties have their moral and ethical shortcomings.

Regardless of the outcome in 2012, we lost while the establishment won.
