Avoiding Absurdities During The 2020 Outbreak

Image
The Fight Against Sensationalist Rubbish and Exploitative Demagogues Is A Never-Ending Battle If the outbreak of Coronavirus, many have become quick to embrace whatever sensationalist rubbish that comes there way.  People will embrace this exploitative tomfoolery on impulse without questioning the merit behind it. One opens there minds to absurd claims during times of crisis An example of this is when one runs across on of those: OMG, the Simpsons Predicted this, articles. Some will examine some references from some long forgotten thriller novel from decades ago as if they stumbled across the Holy Grail. Nostradamus Many will be quick to attribute. Nostradamus to some random, nonsense claim. The Nostradamus effect then takes hold. OMG, Nostradamus predicted this, along with the Simpsons. In the vast majority of cases though, several will make a random quote that sounds ancient, and then attribute that quote to the 16-th century'

Old Hardware Emulated : TI Avigo On MAME

Texas Instruments Wants In On The Action The TI Avigo PDA starting up in MAME With the success of the Palm Pilot, many new competitors entered into the scene to get in on the PDA action. Texas Instruments entered into the market with the TI Avigo 10 PDA. TI sold this device between 1997 and 2000. After this run though, there wouldn't be a follow-up, making the Avigo 10 the only entry in TI's PDA offerings. On paper, it would make sense for TI to enter the PDA market. This company already had a long history making handheld calculators for a few decades up to this point. Starting in the early 70's, TI became very well-known for there pocket and scientific calculators. Some of them have already been covered on this blog. TI started to release graphing calculators in the early 90's. These graphing calculators were essentially handheld computers in there own right, able to do advance computation on the go. In fact, the TI series of graphing c

Carmageddon

Harder Than French Kissing a Cobra What happens when you combine the arcade  insanity of Midtown Madness with the lust for blood of GTA? Basically Twisted Metal for the PC (Even though that game had been ported from the PlayStation to the PC as well)! A arcade game for those that want to paint the streets red with blood. It's Midtown Madness for those who love Itchy And Scratchy.  I played a lot of Carmageddon back in the day. It was very intense. With that said, their isn't that much to say about the game plot-wise. It's basically a vehicular combat game where you destroy over vehicles and run over pedestrians for points. Their plenty of violence, but it's way over the top and unrealistic, like that of 80's action movies.  Carmageddon was developed by Stainless Software, and published by SCI and Interplay. The Wikipedia page about SCI revealed a very interesting origin story about Carmageddon. Stainless Software started working o

My Thoughts Close Of The Election : Religion and Politics

Image
One of the most toxic things that anyone can do is mix religion and politics together. Why Do People Mix Politics And Religion Together? Even on a good day, politics is a very divisive topics. In theory, a political discussion shouldn't be charged. However, when people feel that there preferred party can do no wrong and assumes a us-vs.-them mentality, then a rational discussion flies out the window. You can only imagine how things get during an election year.  However, one of the most toxic things that anyone can do is mix religion and politics together. When this occurs, the object of worship changes. Instead of God, people start to worship politics, and thus, there preferred leaders become there new gods. The level of devotion is still there, but the direction changes. Political ideology is passed off as quote "Biblical teaching". This party becomes quote “evil” while this other party becomes quote “the party of God”. Things become black-and-wh

More Citations:The Golden Rule

Living by the Golden Rule Means Rejecting the Spiritual Ivory Tower Their were more content that were incorporated in my "Golden Rule" sermon that were left out because I felt that by the time of delivery, they weren't that relevant. As a result, this article is meant to expand on the content that was left out. Compared to my previous citations articles covering the last sermon, this is the only post, thus being much shorter. As mentioned in the Golden Rule sermon, many who become self-righteous often construct their own spiritual ivory tower to look down upon others. For those living in there towers, the Christian walk is often defined by catch sayings that often trivializes Christianity and often make use of empty blanket statements and vague generalizations that often conform to fallacies that are often embraced as fact.  Those that incorporate such statements often fail to provide specific examples, thus making the claim a b
