My Thoughts On Conspiracy Theories In General And Why I Have A Strong Disdain For Them

Image
As anyone who is familiar with my blog knows, I'm not a particular fan of conspiracy theories. However, I decided to ask the question: Why do I have a strong distaste for them? What constantly motivates me to call them out in various Facebook post and articles on my blog. It's a question that I seldom ask myself. So what is it about them that get underneath my feathers? It's Not My Fault!   Secret Lizard   People Sent By Satan Made Me Do It! I think that at the most fundamental level, I have a strong disdain for conspiracy theories because they allows people to avoid taking personal responsibility for their actions. I was watching an episode of Proof where they were covering secret societies. The narrator remarked that many people believe that political polarization is a product of secret societies like the Illuminati (this word isn't in Google's Spellchecker, so I bet they are behind that somehow) which uses it as a distraction so that they can ...

Old Hardware Emulated : Windows Mobile 2003 Device Emulator Part 2

Third Party Apps 3rd Party Programs Running On The Pocket PC 2003 SDK Windows CE had a very decent-sized software library by 2003/2004. The platform was populated by various devices sold by many OEM's. It only made sense for software developers to target the platform. While WinCE's library was never as large as Palm's or J2ME, it was large enough where their users could make worthwhile use of their devices. As mentioned in previous articles, WinCE brought multimedia capabilities to the PDA. Handhelds like the Compaq iPAQ demonstrated that audio and video playback was possible on a small handheld. While the early Sony Clie handhelds running PalmOS had video playback, the video had to be encoded to gray-scale color depth in the PDB format. The video couldn't be that large. You weren't going to be watching that episode of Friends on your Palm anytime soon. While video encoding occurred with WinCE as well, their were far more options and...

Classic Systems Emulated: Windows 95 (Part 4)

Microsoft shows no mercy on IBM or the OEM's! The Packard Bell Navigator for Windows 95 running under VMware Player Windows 95 succeeded beyond Microsoft's wildest expectations. Customers demanded Windows 95. Anyone with Win95 were left in the dust. As a result, Microsoft now had much more leverage in making excessive demands from the OEM's on their terms. These companies felt compelled to comply because if they didn't, Microsoft was going to lock them out of Windows. They wouldn't have a business without them. Microsoft was going to strong-arm even their loyalist of customers. These abuses are covered in   Finding The Facts - The United States of America Vs. Microsoft Corp which goes into great detail about Microsoft's abusive practices. This is definitely a worthwhile read. This is where the vast majority of this information comes from. Don't Be A Pastor Johnson!

Image
Commentary/Conspiracy Theories As a semi-regular guest to Patheos, I do run across some very interesting articles on a routine basis. On one of my casual visits, I ran across an article (linked below) covering the topic of Pastor Jerimiah Johnson. This article resonated with me because it reflected certain viewpoints that I have encountered personally as well.   Pastor Jeremiah Johnson is right when he declares that God isn't a liar and his word should always be the source of our lives as Christians. However, it's important to note that Pastor Johnson, like so many, have failed as a preacher because he fused his political ideas, rhetoric, and beliefs in conspiracy theories as Biblical teaching. Pastor Johnson started to worship his political beliefs instead of God. He passed off his views on social and political commentary as God's word. Pastor Johnson destroyed his credibility as a Christian leader because he substituted politics in place of spirituality....
